"Enhancing the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families though advocacy, education, training, service and support of research."

Everyone's a Winner in Reno

Crisp high altitude air, sunny days in the midst of snowy winter, and the excitement of unique Nevada nightlife form the backdrop for this year’s, 42nd Annual International LDA Conference. Not everyone can be lucky at the roulette wheel in the casino, but “Everyone A Winner” is our theme, consonant with LDA’s message that “every person can succeed in school, in relationships, at work and in the community, given the right opportunities.”

The annual LDA conference is your vehicle for discovering what those opportunities might be and how you might help to create them through your state and local LDA. Over 200 workshops on issues of interest to adults with learning disabilities and those who work with them, to parents of young and school-aged children, to young adults in transition from school to adult life and their families, and especially on instruction for educators and administrators are on the schedule.

Full day pre-conference topical workshops cover issues of early childhood, medical research, and mental health. Over 100 exhibitors will display and demonstrate the latest tools for success and programs that work, along with our popular LDA bookstore. Saturday is dedicated to our ever-growing Post Secondary Options Fair, while the National Institute for Literacy hosts an all-day Bridges to Practice training.

Make your hotel reservations early by calling (800) 648-1177 and be sure to indicate you are part of the LDA Conference room block to receive our special $99 guest room rate (single or double). Ask also for rooms in the West Wing of the hotel to be closest to the conference and exhibit areas. The food in the hotel is great with a wide selection of restaurants, buffets, and delis within the hotel, and affordable, too.

The LDA Reno conference is affordable, easy to get to, and chock full of wonderful learning and sharing experiences for all of our members, whatever your areas of interest. Register today! All members should have received a colorful conference announcement brochure and a full, 100-page pre-conference book with registration page at the back. If you want additional information, call Andrea at the national office, 412-341-1515 ext. 203, or email her at aturkheimer@ldaamerica.org.
